Position Purpose:
As a Clinical Manager within Sinai Chicago, you will manage the daily operations of the clinical unit. The Manager partners with key leaders across Sinai Health Systems various departments in decision-making and ensures a bidirectional flow of information. The Manager promotes excellence in all areas and serves as the champion for continued process improvement work. The Manager will focus on the patient and visitor experience, quality and safety, coordination of care across the continuum, use of technological tools and solutions including EMR, metric reporting, customer service, and oversees the budget and financial performance. Ensure provision of quality patient care while maintaining cost-effective clinical operations in accordance with all legal, compliance, and regulatory requirements and programs. This role understands and implements accreditation standards and be accountable for the quality of the department.
Key Job Activities:
Participates in the interview and hiring process of qualified candidates for employment.
Ensures caregiver education needs are met in collaboration with Nursing Education and unit specific standards.
Serves as a role model and mentor for all caregivers in professionalism and clinical practice.
Participates and monitors corrective action as needed for performance below standards in collaboration with nursing leadership and human resources.
Completes/ensures completion of annual performance appraisals.
Participates in the development of unit goals with the Director and staff. Monitors progress towards identified goals and implements change processes required to meet identified goals.
Works collaboratively with the Director in developing the annual budget as well as reviewing and reporting on the monthly financial and FTE variances.
Demonstrates 24/7 accountability and accessibility for clinical, administrative and leadership support of the unit(s).
Exemplifies excellence in service with internal and external customs as evident by the ability to effectively respond to reported concerns and develop sustainable strategies for improvement.
Demonstrates the ability to recognize and address identified breeches in safety/quality and report them appropriately.
Demonstrates the ability to integrate technology into the patient care processes and uses information systems to support business decisions.
Organizes and facilitates monthly Quality Assurance Performance Indicators meeting.
Participates and monitors Care Plan Meeting (MDR) and maintains up to date documentation of Care Plans.
Provides and supports positive educational experiences for students and residents.
Facilitates and supports unit, hospital and system-based performance improvement plans in collaboration with Director.
Manages personal growth and development through education advancement, continuing education, career planning and annual self-assessment and actions plans.
Practices ethical behavior including practice that supports nursing standards and scopes of practice.
Involved in professional associations including membership that facilitates networking and professional development.
Achieves certification in an appropriate field/specialty.
Participates in a hospital committee.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience:
Associate degree in nursing required, bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
Two (2) years of experience in a Clinical Nursing leadership position.
Knowledge and Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to organize, mentor and lead others.
Ability to function independently within scope of clinical practice and patient care driven.
Excellent judgment and a problem solver.
Detail-oriented.
Experience in EPIC and MEDITECH software systems preferred.
Certifications/Licenses:
Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Illinois
Certification in Basic Life Support
